Why Insanity with Shaun T?
![]() |
Insanity is all about the jumping and crazy cardio |
Spoiler alert: every single day on the schedule has some crazy cardio. Unlike P90X which has weight training on some days Insanity works in muscle building with the cardio.
There are crazy high jumps, a ton of burpees and some pushups.
What equipment and space is needed for Insanity?
What is the Insanity trainer, Shaun T, like?
Shaun T was so motivating - when he yells "run as fast as you can!" I actually listened to him as if he was really there!
Within 10 minutes of starting each workout the sweat was POURING off me. I have never had this happen before so I was astonished. Expect to get your heart rate WAY up in this program. My heart rate was often up to 180 bpm or more.
Who should and should not do Insanity?
If you're already in good shape and want to push yourself to the best shape of your life Insanity is the right choice.
This is also a great choice if you're training for a race and want to get your cardio up through the winter and start the spring off in the best shape of your life.
What is an easier version of Insanity?
Why P90X with Tony Horton?
The program comes with a nutrition plan and 3 different workout plans - you get to choose the workout plan based

P90X is a mix of weight lifting and cardio |
What is the trainer, Tony Horton, like?
Not everyone loves Tony though, some people find him too random.
Why is P90X so effective?
If you can't even do a single pull up or push up (like me when I started!) you can still do this program.
There are enough videos that I never got bored with the workouts or felt like I was doing them over and over. The only video you do a lot is Ab Ripper X - I memorized that video! But you learn to love Ab Ripper because you get better and better at it.
Who should or should not do P90X?
If you don't have that kind of time try the 30 minute version of P90X called P90X3.
P90X3 is still considered an advanced program though.
If you are new to working out you may want to start with P90 which is more of an beginner program and lower impact with the same trainer - Tony Horton.
To get the most out of the workout program I drink Shakeology after the workouts which is both a recovery drink and a meal replacement with veggies packed in. The cheapest way to get Shakeology is as a P90X Challenge Pack.
